Bundling KVH’s 100Gigabit Ethernet Network Services with Cisco’s Industry Leading 100G Routers at an Aggressive Price Point
Tokyo, August 7, 2013 – KVH Co. Ltd., Asia’s leading information delivery platform headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, today announced it will combine its recently launched 100Gigabit Ethernet Leased Line Service with Cisco ASR9000 routers to offer a 100G Network Upgrade Package, available from today.
KVH launched Japan’s first point-to-point 100Gigabit Metro Ethernet network service in March 2013 to address significant demand for high-capacity, high-bandwidth networks and has experienced high demand for this service. As an extension of this service, the KVH 100G Network Upgrade Package aims to provide a complete and cost-effective option for enterprises in need of 100Gbps network capacity but are hesitant to migrate to the service given network infrastructure upgrade costs.
With this package, KVH will offer 100Gbps-interface routers at highly competitive pricing. Basic configuration for the Cisco ASR9000 router will include one port for a 100G BASE-SR uplink and a 10-port 10G BASE-SR interface that can be expanded to 24 ports. Customers can select from rental options available for two, three, and four year periods.
KVH is currently running a pricing promotion for the KVH 100G Network Upgrade Package, including 100G Ethernet connectivity and two Cisco ASR9000 routers with basic configuration, valid until the end of March, 2014. Monthly charges for a two-year contract start from 5 million yen.
KVH will provide this package as a one-stop service, enabling customers to benefit from highly reliable infrastructure at reasonable cost and through a single point of contact.
The package targets enterprises with 100Gbps point-to-point data transmission needs between data centers, network centers, research and development centers, internet exchanges, hospitals, and large corporate WAN environments. KVH’s 100Gigabit Ethernet Service offers customers guaranteed bandwidth of up to 100Gbps, and a choice of two different levels of redundancy through either the Standard Class (dual access) or Economy Class (single access) service options. This service is also backed by strong service level agreements (SLA) covering service availability and fault handling.
As a network industry leader with market share majority, the Cisco ASR 9000 Series will be leveraged for this campaign in order to provide customers with a highly reliable and scalable network that will address the requirements and demands of traffic and service growth. Customers can also choose from a selection of DWDM technologies, including the Cisco ONS 15454, as part of the upgrade package to ensure the solution addresses their specific business needs and to simplify operational efficiency.
“We are very pleased to be expanding our 100G network service offering with Cisco to deliver a highly cost-efficient solution to our customers,” explains Ted Higase, KVH President and Chief Executive Officer. “This joint offering is a clear demonstration of KVH’s continuous dedication to meeting our customers’ needs to their complete satisfaction, and working with the world’s leading service providers to ensure customers are receiving the highest quality services available.”
“Cisco is very pleased to announce that KVH has launched 100G upgrade package services in Japan,” said Yasufumi Hirai, President and General Manager, Cisco G.K. “This is in line with the increase in demand for traffic associated with video and mobile devices. The Cisco ASR9000 Series Router has been selected by KVH to support this service because of its rich feature set, high reliability, and high density for 100G connections. I am confident that Cisco can address enterprise business requirements by simplifying networking environments, contributing to business velocity, and reducing operational costs.”
